The study used mathematical adoption rates of infectious diseases and Google Trends research to guide their predictions (available in this PDF).
Facebook has been dominating the Google Trends graph since mid-2008 and the recent MySpace reboot seems to have made little lift relative to Facebook.
So what can/should we do about this info? Social media moves so fast that its best not to make any swift decisions. As always, it is best to be as nimble as possible.
